The Rehabilitation Association of Mississippi (RAM) is a
member organization that promotes ethical and state of the art practice in
rehabilitation with the goal of the personal and economic independence of
persons with disab8ilites. RAM member include rehabilitation counselors,
physical, speech and occupational therapists, job trainers, consultants,
independent living instructors, students in the rehabilitation programs, and
other professional involved in the advocacy of programs and services for people
with disabilities.
Purpose
The purpose of this Association shall be to advance
rehabilitation for all
persons with disabilities by:
1. Increasing public understanding of the social and economic gains to the individuals and to communities through providing opportunities for all persons with disabilities to become self-sufficient, self-supporting, and contributing members of society.
2. Providing opportunities for conference and forums for the discussion of all problems relating to a total rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
3. Encouraging team work at the operating level as a basic system of rehabilitation.
4. Fostering research and study to advance knowledge and skills necessary to improve rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities.
5. Stimulating professional training opportunities for all personnel engaged in rehabilitation.
6. Encouraging development of the professional division of the State Association.
7. Undertaking such other activities as the membership may desire, if such activities are not in conflict with the objective and purpose of the Rehabilitation Association of Mississippi.
